The cover photo shows hydroponic mint grown from an empty soda bottle. I just cut a few stems from a pot and put them in water—they’re so full of life and have grown many roots!

Random Talk: How I comfortably lost 8 lbs in half a month
I wanted to share how I comfortably lost 8 lbs in two weeks. I’m not into force-feeding myself bland fitness meals or being trapped in a gym; my way is through glucose control and simple outdoor activity.
- Eating Order: Vegetables first, then protein, then carbs. This stabilizes blood sugar and naturally reduces your carb intake. You can slowly swap white rice for sweet corn or potatoes.
- Quit Poor Carbs: I gave up bubble tea, fried rice, spicy noodles, cakes, and other high-sugar, high-calorie, low-fiber foods. I swapped them for iced soda water with sugar-free additions like coconut water or black coffee.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: Drinking apple cider vinegar (BRAGG) with iced soda water and a bit of coconut water makes a great-tasting drink that helps lower blood sugar spikes and converts intake into muscle glycogen rather than fat.
- Quick Research: Before eating something unknown, I do a quick search on Xiaohongshu to see its calorie count. it helps me make better choices.
- Simple Activity: I walk for 20 minutes after meals. I also switched my commute to cycling (10km total), which is often faster than driving and lets me see the city.
We all know being fit feels better, but sometimes genes and habits make it hard. choosing a more scientific, less stressful path makes it sustainable. it’s not just about looks; it’s about health and living longer.
